ABCeuta NYU — Reel

Kevin Smets and Irene Gutiérrez-Torres were invited by Professor Radha S. Hegde to discuss some of the ethical and methodological dilemmas emerged from the ABCeuta workshop at NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development’s Department of Media, Culture, and Communication, in collaboration with NYU’s Migration Network. As one of the final talks of our project, the event offered an opportunity to engage with New York University researchers and students on urgent questions of displacement, borders, and migration today. The screening and discussion focussed on how participatory filmmaking opens up alternative ways of understanding border experiences from below.
