Sally Hllouby has won the special jury award for her film “We Were There” at the Directed by Women Festival in Istanbul (13-15 September). Sally made the film as part of our participatory filmmaking workshop held in Adana which she also co-trained. Now in its 6th year, the film festival had a total of 61 screenings, and applications from directors from 39 countries. Her film, a moving reflection on loss and memory across borders, has been also part of the International Documentary & short film festival of Kerala (India), among others. Congratulations Sally, and we look forward to more news about this beautiful film!
