International Migration has published a book review by Silvia Almenara Niebla of the book Visual Methodology in Migration Studies. Karolina Nikielska-Sekula and Amandine Desille present a variety of studies that deserve recognition for delivering a series of critical insights that extend beyond visual essentialism and highlight the production of visual meaning in migration processes.

The book also conteins a chapter by our fieldwork partners İlke Şanlıer Yüksel and Aydın Çam (Adana University), which highlights the role of images in the construction of migrants’ representation and the ability of creative and participatory methods to inform alternative modes of signifying migration.
