Reel Borders studies how borders are imagined
through film
New article in Emotion, Space and Society
Reel Borders team members Silvia Almenara-Niebla and Kevin Smets have published a new article in the journal Emotion, Space and Society. The article reports on ethnographic research conducted in various Irish border towns, including 44 interviews and 3 cineforums, a participatory visual method using elicitation that was developed for the Reel Borders project. Approaching cinema as a bordering practice, the article explores the emotional significance of the border, but also how processes of othering have been shaped by the periods of violence. The full article can be found here. The team wants to thank all participants in the study, as well as the reviewers and editors for their insightful comments.
