Irene Gutiérrez-Torres presented the paper “ABCeuta: Informing Policy Makers through Autoethnographic Participatory Filmmaking” as part of the roundtable “Borders, (Participatory) Art Practices, Academic Research and Impact” at CESSMIR, the Centre for the Social Study of Migration and Refugees at Ghent University.

The roundtable brought together researchers and practitioners to reflect on how participatory art practices can create bridges between academic research, lived experience, public debate, and policy engagement. Irene’s presentation focused on ABCeuta as a case of autoethnographic participatory filmmaking that translates situated border knowledge into forms that can speak to policy-makers, while also highlighting the ethical dilemmas that arise when attempting to co-disseminate this research together with the co-researchers.
