Synopsis
On the border between Morocco and Spain, we wait impatiently for the "boza" - to cross to Europe. One failed attempt after another, we survive, and I, the "Artist", must keep the flame of hope alive for the whole group. A camera and a couple of songs, that is how we made this film.
Director’s note
We made “Les Voyageurs” using images that were initially intended as personal memories. We then decided it was important to bring them to the big screen to show our daily lives as sub-Saharan immigrants in Morocco. We wanted to show our reality as it is, without filters, just with a handful of songs and videos we created that speak of our community, conflicts, and dreams. We were driven by a common goal: crossing the border fence between Morocco and Spain, one of the most militarised borders in the world. This film, made between several attempts in 2014 and 2015, served not only to document this reality but also to give us strength as a group, to empower us.
