Irene Gutiérrez-Torres participated in the panel “Agency on Screen: Participatory Filmmaking” as part of the conference Slow Media Futures: Ethics, Ecology, and Creativity, held on 16–17 May 2026 at the Kurfürstliches Schloss in Mainz. The conference brought together filmmakers, industry professionals, and scholars to explore how screen media can respond to contemporary ecological and ethical challenges.

In conversation with Laura Aguiar, Silke Beller, and Sezen Kayhan, and moderated by Laura K. Mücke, Irene reflected on the role of participatory filmmaking within the Reel Borders project as a dialogical space for collective storytelling in contexts marked by unequal regimes of visibility.
