Reel Borders studies how borders are imagined through film

Nadica Denić

Researcher

Nadica Denić is a media scholar and curator based in Amsterdam whose main research interests include documentary theory and practice, the relationship between cinema and ethics, and the cultural memory of migration. She currently works as a Lecturer in Film and Media Studies at the University of Amsterdam. As a PhD researcher (2020-2024) at the University of Amsterdam, she explored the cinematic ethics of first-person documentaries about migration in Europe. She has collaborated as a curator with IDFA (NL), Framer Framed (NL), and Interaction (RS), among others.
During her time as a researcher at Reel Borders, she plans to explore the relationship between cinema and risk: how contemproary filmmaker negotiate different forms of risk in the production process, including being labeled 'risky' themselves.
