Reel Borders studies how borders are imagined through film

Marrakech International Film Festival




From November 16-19, Reel Borders attended the Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM) as part of Lennart’s preliminary fieldwork period. During this time, Lennart met with directors, producers, film institutions and festival organizers to interview them about borders and migration as recurring themes in Moroccan cinema.

Combining the festival with visits to the Cinémathèque de Tanger, Rabat, and Agadir, he talked a.o. with the organizers of the Agadir Festival of Cinema and Migration, representatives of the Centre Cinématographique Marocain (CCM). In addition, he met up with Reel Borders advisory board member Jamal Bahmad from Mohammed V University.
