Reel Borders studies how borders are imagined through film

Nerve Centre Reel Borders shorts screening



The Nerve Centre in Derry has showcased seven Reel Borders shorts from the participatory filmmaking workshops set in Derry (April- June 2022) and Ceuta (October- December 2022). On 21/09, the nine Irish filmmakers who created four short films in Donegal and Derry discussed their experiences about what it means to live in a border region and materialise this experience through film. Additionally, Irene Gutiérrez talked about participatory filmmaking as a creative method aimed at researching the role of cinema in shaping border imagination, contestation and experience —more information about the event here.
